The Missouri Botanical Garden was founded in 1859 and is the nation's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation. In addition to being a beautiful oasis in the city of St. Louis, the Garden has an internationally renowned center for plant research and science education. The year 2009 marks the Garden's sesquicentennial anniversary. All are welcome to come explore the Garden's 79 acres of beautiful horticultural displays which change brilliantly through the seasons. And always the Garden strives to carry out their mission "To discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment, in order to preserve and enrich life."
